TTDARES Holds Lecture on Millet to Boost Teachers’ Knowledge of Food and Agriculture Education

In helping to promote the government’s policy of food and agriculture education, the Taitung District Agricultural Research and Extension Station (TTDARES) held a Food and Agriculture Education Class on Wednesday, April 26, 2023, at Xianglan Elementary School in Taimali Township, attended by 15 teachers.
The class, about millet, was taught by Zhang Fang-kui, head of the TTDARES Upland Crops Lab and an assistant researcher there. He talked about the characteristics of millet, field management, and disease and pest control measures. In recent years, the school has used traditional crops to conduct food and agriculture education and held classes on hands-on millet cultivation. By participating in the TTDARES’ food and agriculture education project this year, the school looks to educate its teachers more thoroughly on millet. Attendees said they learned much from the class and affirmed that the material provided will help them in the development of their own classes.
